LET'S GET POLITICAL!!!

Well I'm sure many of you have been looking at the democratic & republican conventions, and by this time you have figured out who is more qualified to be the next leader of our country. Neither candidate {McCain/Obama} has said formerly that they support gay marriage or civil unions between same sex couples. In fact, both are opposed to it. So where does that leave us? I think it's a fair statement that most ppl in the LGBT community are democrats and will probably vote on the Obama ticket...but what about Leisha? Who do you think will win her vote? Does she seem the GOP type? I dunno..I'd like to think she would vote for the Big "O"...but you never know. Rose Rollins made it known that Obama is the only choice for change. What do you guys think? Is Leisha Republican or Democrat?

I think Leisha is democrat, or she could be not political or independent. I'm gonna ask her at her concert.

Honestly, Barack has supported many issues in the LGBT community, so I wouldn't be suprised if Leisha supported him. Here are some of his views I found.

Don't Ask, Don't Tell - Gays in the Military:
Obama believes we need to repeal the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy and allow gays and lesbians to serve openly in the military. His campaign literature says, "The key test for military service should be patriotism, a sense of duty, and a willingness to serve."

Gay & Lesbian Adoption:
Barack Obama believes gays and lesbians should have the same rights to adopt children as heterosexuals.

Barack Obama and Gay Marriage/ Civil Unions:
Although Barack Obama has said that he supports civil unions, he is against gay marriage. In an interview with the Chicago Daily Tribune, Obama said, "I'm a Christian. And so, although I try not to have my religious beliefs dominate or determine my political views on this issue, I do believe that tradition, and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman."

Barack Obama did vote against a Federal Marriage Amendment and opposed the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996.

He said he would support civil unions between gay and lesbian couples, as well as letting individual states determine if marriage between gay and lesbian couples should be legalized.

"Giving them a set of basic rights would allow them to experience their relationship and live their lives in a way that doesn't cause discrimination," Obama said. "I think it is the right balance to strike in this society."

honestly, I see Leshia being a supporter of Hilary Clinton bc we know she is a huge womans activist, but with it narrowed b/t Barack or McCain, I know she is rooting for the great Obama

Radio thanks for posting the views supported by Obama. "I do believe that tradition, and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman."(Obama). I understand him being a Christian, but I don't understand how he can support civil unions and not support Gay Marriages? But it is a comfort to know that he does show support for certain issues plaguing the LGBT community; which is more than I can say for McCain. Obama still gets my vote.

Kaye I wouldn't be surprised either if Leish voted for the big O'. But supposedly McCain picked Palin to sway women voters. Lets hope that doesn't hold true.

With Palin's views, I don't know how many women voters will be swayed. She sounds very anti-feminism. She's pro-life, a lot of people think she's forcing her daughter to get married to her baby's daddy.

i'm not sure who I am voting for, if i even vote, but i do think Leisha, if she votes, will vote for Obama.

Really J? You're undecided on who to vote for?

I'm voting for Obama no question. Republicans must think women are stupid and simple minded. Palin is clearly no Hilary Clinton. I can't wait until November. It's an exciting time to be an American.

Radio---I agree with you 100%.

Speedy - i am completely undecided. lol. there are some issues that i agree with mccain on, but than there are some that i agree with obama (mostly social issues). either candidate could be bad news for me, hence me being undecided.

also, i hate politics, i mean, i really hate them. i hate learning about politics, i hate listening to people talk about politics, and i hate that during election years, every single article in the newspapers seems to be about politics.

gee, i should tell you how i really feel huh? :0)

lol j! i too am undecided tho.
nonetheless, leisha... i surely think that she's an obama supporter! i can't see her being any other way, he's pro a lotta gay rights, and leisha knows that she's a role model to lots of gays in her position. definitely a good question to ask tho speedy, can't wait to hear her response! :)
