******BACK IN THE DAY******

ROCKER GIRLS!!!

Do you guys remember The Murmurs/Gush? I have to admit, I never was a punk-rocker nor was I into rock bands back in the day. But I regret not opening my mind enough to take a listen a lot of bands back then; bands that I would normally listen to today. But there is something about a girl with a guitar that is soooo attractive. Heather and Leisha had a connection like no other. The chemistry they had was so lucid and energetic, that I only wish I could have experienced it along with everyone else at that time. But who knew...
I believe Leisha is first a musician--then an actress.
You have to admire her as a person, as a musician, a gay woman making it in this male dominated red-tape of an industry. She posseses a drive that is infinite and compelling--is there any doubt why I am in awe of this woman? She's not just Alice Piezsekie (i could never spell that name right), she's not just Leisha Hailey star of the hit Showtime series TLW---She's someone who represents an inner me...Driven-Determined-Passionate About Her Art-Multifarious-Witty-Intelligent...I can go on and on.

Enlighten me--were any of you a Murmurs or Gush fan? Have any of you been to one of their concerts, or own every one of their albums? Believe me, I will eventually play catch up and purchase every single cd they have made...but for now--I'll just live vicariously through you guys...skool a sista on their music.

apparently i just missed seeing the murmurs back in 1995. I went with a couple of friends to dallas where one of my friends was going to a show; I stayed behind with the other friend to drink, and after i became such a huge fan of Leisha's, my friend told me that he'd seen the murmurs that night. He said, "oh you like the one who didn't have the rainbow bright hair, haha!"
I was a big fan of the indie rock scene back then (and still am), so the murmurs are right up my alley. Honestly I think that the reason I started taking notice of Leisha was because of her music, rather than her acting (which of course I love that too...) I agree about the hotness of a guitar :)

Anonymous--if you post-Please sign into Google or identify yourself by a name below your post. It's easy to make negative statements when no one knows who you are...thx BTW--The Rolling Stones are all over 50...and they still manage to sell out to crowds. Being a rocker has no age limits.

I would like to add a comment to what Speedy said, if she doesn't mind...I guess according to anonymous...then should Ms. Janet Jackson give up her music career...should the Divas of all Divas give up their careers...Ms. Tina Turner, Ms. Patty LaBelle..oh, how about the Queen..Aretha...sorry, I got a little bother by the comment..thanks Speedy and everyone for listening.

i don't know what it is about people making anonymous negative comments on blogs; i see it all the time. I have a hard time respecting the opinion of anyone who is too much of a coward to identify themselves when they have something snarky to say. Obviously the comment about her age is ridiculous. There are tons of amazing artists older than Leisha, and being signed to a major label means nothing. Most of the bands and artists I like are on indie labels. Majors go for the 'flavor of the moment', while indie labels support artists based on the merit of their talent. Anonymous is just all around WRONG. :)

I own Blender, and I love it. Even before I had heard of Leisha Hailey and/or the Murmurs/Gush, I loved her music. I was the geek with the Sabrina the Teenaged Witch soundtrack, including Smash, which was my favorite song on the soundtrack.

Anonymous, a couple people have already said something, but, I have to put in my own two cents. If you think anyone 40 or over should give up being a rocker, then a lot of great artists should give up their career, their dream.

Age has nothing to do with being a rocker. It often seems like, the older a rocker is, the better they are. They've learned from their mistakes and from the mistakes of others. Rockers are like certain types of alcohol and cheese, they are better aged.

Being signed to a major label means nothing. Fueled by Ramen, the label behind Panic!, Fall Out Boy, and Paramore, was not a major label until Panic and FOB became big hits.

Its the artists signed to the label that makes them major labels, not the other way around.

"Rockers are like certain types of alcohol and cheese, they are better aged." I couldn't agree more. "Its the artists signed to the label that makes them major labels, not the other way around."

j school--you always bring a ray of enlightenment to this blog...thank you.

Plenty of you have already said the same thing, but just wanted to agree with the comments about age...who cares how the fuck old you are...and 37 is nowhere near old...that has nothing to do with how good you can do music...as is proven by Leisha and the many other examples given on this site...that was an ageist comment made by someone who couldnt even bother to identify themselves...now back on topic...I never even heard of the Murmers...but became a fan of Uh Huh Her about 4 or 5 months ago. I just ordered a Murmers CD yesterday though, I'm excited to hear some new(to me) music.

Ok leishalvr--you are entitled to your opinion, and that's fine...but lets not get facetious about it. For your info--Leisha and her band has sold out at every venue they played at in the last few months...No one has said she was on the same music level as Janet or others...We are simply stating that...MUSIC IS AGELESS!!!
So let's not get it twisted...End of conversation.

I been quiet lately bc I have been busy, but now its time for my 2 cents. First let me say, thanks J school for introducing me to gush/murmers. That is my best friend for all who don't know, so now you will be caught up on the playful banter we speak on the blog. "leishalvr" you are entitled to your opinion, but you are doing it in a horrible way. One, you brought up a whole different discussion that was not asked by my blog parter Speedy. All she did was ask, have you heard of the murmers/Gush back in the day or seen thier concerts. She did not mention if Leshia should continue with her music career. Your comments are unnecessary and after this post I better not see ONE. SINGLE. PERSON. speak on age, Leshia, Uh Huh Her, or anything affiliated with "leshialvr" discussion. Afer my post, please stay on topic. Speedy asked a question, and she would like for anyone who wants to post an answer.

My answer Speedy, No i havent heard of them until J school introduced me to them a few years ago. She knew I was a fan of Leshia and sent me some songs from the Murmers to listen too. My favorites are "Genius", "Sucker Upper", "La Di Da". If you were to here there stuff, defiantly listen to "Sucker UPper" Me and J school used to have a ball singing to that, lol. Plus I seen Uh Huh Her in Atlanta, and love them. I have thier EP, and thier new CD and I love it!
