UHH WEBSITE BY GREEN
Hey guys lets show our support for a very special person who has supported our blog faithfully and is a wiz at just about anything technical. Green has started an UHH website in honor of our girls. It's still in the baby stages, but like all newborns-it will grow. So let's show her some love and check it out. Sunday, December 28, 2008
LEISHA HAILEY SOCIAL NETWORK (COMING SOON)
Hey guys Kaye and I are building Leisha's Social Networking Forum. It's just something new and different for our diverse family to convene and have fun. I'm trying to get it up and running by the first week in January. Here's the catch, only our beloved members can join. Kaye and I have to screen all of our members due to some undesirables from other blogs infiltrating our cohesiveness. But we know who belongs and who doesn't. I hate to say it, but we do have haters out there that have nothing else better to do but to demean our blog all because of their jealousy. So with that being said, we have a lot of interesting and exciting things in the works for you guys....stay tuned.By the way, that awesome portrait above was sketched by a very talented woman named CAI. CAI's artwork can be found on the Uh Huh Her discussion board. This woman HAS SKILLS...check it out...CAI'S PORTRAITS
ALICIA WARRINGTON

Alicia Warrington I heard was a badass drummer that made up the trio of Uh Huh Her. As Leisha explains it, the [Her] in Uh Huh Her was synonymous to the group as a whole. It's an estrogenous band....At least they tried to keep it that way. But Alicia Warrington for whatever reason had to leave the group suddenly. But it's apparent that she is missed. By looking at the pics above, the threesome were close knit and very good friends. We don't hear about Alicia as much anymore since she left, which makes me wonder what the reason was for her departing the group in the first place. At any rate, I would have loved to meet this fantastic drummer...there's something about a woman with sticks that turns me on. If anyone has any idea on why Alicia left please share. Next time I speak with Leisha, I'll ask her about the original badass drummer of Uh Huh Her....Alicia Warrington.Saturday, December 27, 2008
VISION OF LOVELINESS
EYE C-U
I will try to get in touch with Leisha's camp to get a handle on this spinoff biz. From what I understand filming should have commenced. I don't know how many episodes their doing for the pilot, but I hope it's well received. I really want Leisha to continue with her acting career along with the music. This is a volatile industry and the key to success is to keep working an getting paid and enjoy what you do. But Leisha has never had a problem, she's always been a workaholic-so to speak. Although The L Word is ending, it's also an opening to a new beginning. More shows in lesbian drama will saturate the airwaves, and we must not forget the ladies who have paved this very difficult path. Kaye and I will try to keep the blog new and interesting and continue to follow the life and career of Miss Hailey. I'll be doing more interviews with Leisha as her career progresses; hopefully catching up with her in Europe. I'm working on that. Let's just keep showing the love for our girl as she continues to shine... :)Friday, December 26, 2008
EARTHA KITT REMEMBERED 1927-2008
I know many of you may have been too young to remember the Batman and Robin tv show 30+ years ago, but as a child growing up in the 70's that was a kids saving grace for entertainment. When I first laid eyes on Eartha Kitt she was the tongue rolling vixen portraying Catwoman which became one of my favorite television shows along with Wonder Woman. But Eartha was a strikingly beautiful woman playing a role most African American women in those days would find difficult to play. Not even Julie Newmar (Catwoman previous) could purrrrrr like Kitt. Her name alone speaks volumes to her role. Unbeknownst to me at the time, Eartha has long been a star on tv and in music. Eartha Mae Kitt was an American actress, singer, and caberet star. She was perhaps best known for her 1953 Christmas song "Santa Baby". She took over the role of Catwoman for the 4th series of the 1960s Batman tv series, replacing Julie Newmar who was unavailable for the final series. Eartha you will be missed, thank you for blessing the world with your presence.

T-Time

Dorothy Surrenders posted some pics of a few luscious lady celebs with some rather unique T's. Here are two of my favorite...not only because their Out & Proud Lesbians, but because their inspirational and true to their art. These are women I admire and would love to emulate in strength and conviction. Portia and Ellen make me soo proud--this is the Will & Jada of relationships. I absolutely adore them and hope their love will withstand the test of time. Leisha------Well, need I say more. You guys know how much she has my heart. T-shirts worn in the pics by our beauties are statements--One professing the love & happiness she has for her wife....the other proclaiming to the world who she is-A MUSICIAN....Now You Know!!! THE SMOKING GUN
It's a typical 'Who Done It' storyline. I don't know where Ilene is going with this. I can't imagine anyone in the core cast who would want to kill Jenny...literally. Look at the promo and tell me what you guys think? (It's not a spoiler, so it's safe)

THE MAGAZINE IS OUT!!!

Leisha Hailey is a walking array of eclectic talent: musician, singer, actress, songwriter, painter, and so much more. Even other artists have taken notice of her seemingly omni-presence. A few days before our interview with the quirky star of Showtime's lesbian themed drama series, The L Word, she was wrapping up the filming of its sixth and final season in Vancouver. Her character, Alice Pieszecki, is the animated nucleus of the shows core cast of women. The show has a huge cult following and, off camera, Hailey remains in tune with her character. She is also half of the electro-pop duo, Uh Huh Her, a band whose video has been featured on Kanye West's blog. "Yeah, we- ]UST heard that and I saw it. I was so honored and I don't have any idea how that happened." She laughs. "That was really very exciting for us." Although Hailey is familiar with West's music, she admits she only listens to it if it's on the radio. There is one hip hop artist in particular she would like to work with. "Missy Elliot is one of our favorites," says Hailey. "She's one of the people we would love to collaborate with. Cam has a really big background in that whole world." Hailey speaks adoringly of Camila Grey, [her dark haired other half of Uh Huh Her] often hailed "the mysterious one.'' Camila has worked with some big name hip hop artists, such as Busta Rhymes and Dr. Dre. Their album Common Reaction is practically screaming GRAMMY; it has become a favorite with a legion of fans across the globe. Call it divine intervention that Leisha Hailey and Camila Grey came together effortlessly and managed to produce it in a such a narrow space of time. "It wasn't rushed in the sense that we felt we would put anything out that we weren't proud of," says Hailey. Instead their focus was on doing it professionally and doing it better and cleaner while getting a really good sound." I asked Leisha, with the success of this debut, if she has thought about their sophomore project. "We've actually continued writing. Our focus right now is to promote and tour this record," says Hailey, "but we definitely have new material already. We're still going!" She has gained a musical following with UHH and the prior 90's alternative rock group, The Murmurs.
At 37, Life after The L Word holds no boundaries. Leisha is at the prime of her career. So how does she feel about this last curtain call? "We're all ready to move on, but there is sadness because you're coming to a close and you're not going to see these people everyday; we've all become a family. As cliche' as that sounds, it really does happen, and it's bittersweet. I think it's all hitting us right now; there's only about three weeks left," comments Hailey. Hailey has her career under control. Some even think she's a workaholic, but don't tell her that. Hailey admits, "I have called myself that before, but I feel it has a negative spin to it. I don't know, I'm doing two things that I absolutely enjoy doing. When it come to work, I don't feel resentful or tired because I really enjoy it."
The execs at Showtime want to keep the shows momentum going. They have signed Leisha Hailey to do a spin-off to which she will be the focal character. It is rumored that it will pick up right where The L Word left off, but who knows? I asked Leisha about the much anticipated follow-up, but she remains tight-lipped about it. "Oh I can tell you, I'm not allowed to say," she says shyly. She did divulge that filming for the pilot will begin in December.
With every opportunity that falls at her feet, it's a wonder how she fits in a personal life. Leisha guards her relationship with longtime girlfriend and fashion designer Nina Garduno. She's reluctant to discuss her private life. She yearns to be home more often and it's apparent as her voice softens. "I was just telling someone that it's my home life that I miss, my personal life that I need to prioritize more. That's really what's hard, is that you're not home as much as you would like to be," admits Hailey.
As the year comes to a close, there's no doubt that Leisha Hailey will dive head first into the ocean of opportunities waiting for her. With a hit cable series, a rising musical career, and an impending spin-off in the works, it's safe to say that she wouldn't demand anything but to be happy. "So far everything that I've done, I've done with people I really enjoy working with. I have made a lot of fantastic friends."

Leisha and her TeePee...hmmmmmm

Alice Clark talks with the girls.....about teepees? “There’s a story behind pre-production, where Leisha, who’s really creative, said” – Grey puts on a nasal, high-pitched voice – “‘Cam! Let’s…’ I’m sorry, I always make the high voice when I talk as her. She’s like, ‘We need to make a vocal booth to work in, to cut all the vocals.’ I always cut everything before we take it to the producer, just to get ideas down. And Leisha ended up building a tepee! This really bizarre tepee that was really hard to get in and out of, so once I was in I couldn’t leave. I had to have a telephone in there and a drink and some food, just because I never got out. And Al Clay, the guy that actually produced the record, came over and he saw our set up. He said, ‘I’m sorry girls, you’re not going to do vocals in a tepee.’
“He totally shut down our tepee idea and we had to go into a real studio and cut all the vocals. We were really bummed out. But you should’ve seen that thing, it was pretty rad.”

CHI'S REVIEW OF UHH IN LA :)
I saw one of the best concerts last night. The girls absolutely killed it. They came onto the stage and off top just started rockin’ out with “I had enough” followed by “So Long” which I really like b/c of the guitar. They seemed really excited and happy to be in LA and the crowd reacted the same. Lots of high energy, screaming, singing along to the songs, dancing (at least in a few sections;) The venue was huge and the entire stage floor section was flooded with fans. Everyone taking pics and recording video while screaming I love you’s to the girls. It was crazy to be in the middle of all the madness and I enjoyed every minute of it.I later decided to hit up the balcony to shoot some footage. I’m sorry to say I was having some difficulty with the camera and the pics came out blurred except for one, which was taken during the signing. However I do have footage of “Dreamer” and “Not A Love Song” and I have to say Cam killed the guitar during this and I caught it. I’ll submit footage once I figure out what’s going on with my mac.
During the show over in a roped off VIP section there were a few um special guest J who were getting a lot of attention from the crowd in the back. Yes Kate, Clea and Nina were all in attendance. Kate wearing her signature fedora was damn near mobbed on the way down from VIP by fans snapping away at their cameras, trying to get close enough to get in the pic with her LOL. She had no security so people were acting a little overzealous and she eventually had to roll out (after the concert) or maybe hide out somewhere else in the club. Nina had on this cute Sherlock Holmes looking’ hat and once the concert was over was in and out of there. I later saw Clea at the signing table. It looked as if she came upstairs to see how much longer the girls would be. The line to get merch signed was long and it took probably a little less then an hour to complete.
Once the concert ended and the encore was no more we headed down to the merch table to grab some t-shirts. I ended up getting two b/c the guy that I brought with me purchased one so that he could go to the signing table with me. I believe it was Cam who said in an interview, they were thinking of calling it “bring your brother tour” you know to expand the demo. So I didn’t bring “my” brother but I did bring “a” brotha…lol it was funny. I think he was one of two that were there for the concert and were not there working security lol. While we waited in line I had some extra uhh posters I got from nettwerk and decided to hand some out to others waiting. People were saying “I want one” left and right I felt like I was giving away turkeys for Thanksgiving it was a great feeling. So great in fact I gave them all away and forgot to keep one for myself to get signed! Ha! But its cool I have one at home and I don’t think I need anymore signed items, unless I start an eBay account. We were 2nd to last in line until the lady ahead (who complimented me on my fresh kicks I purchased just b4 the show) decided she wanted to be last and stepped aside so us and another girl could go ahead. It didn’t faze me I was just happy to finally be up next. There was a guy who stood at the table and took your merch from you and laid it out on the table but it was sort of invasive b/c he kind of blocked you from the girls and it was awkward so I made my way closer to the table and was like “Hey”! They both said Hi and LH had a big smile on her face. I told them, “The show was excellent, you really rocked it tonight” or something corny like that. I forgot most of my whole spiel. I did mention how I accidentally gave all my posters away w/o keeping one for myself. Both of them were looking and listening attentively. Cam I didn’t hear say anything while I was at the table but Leisha seemed sympathetic almost she said, “You didn’t get a poster?” It was loud so I don’t know if they completely understood what the hell I was saying. Leisha looked around as if to see if there were any but I was cool. I got my t’s signed and was able to say what’s up to the girls and have a photo taken by my friend while I talked to them. All in all it was an awesome show the best I’ve seen yet!
